The Corinthia St George’s Bay is a 5-star resort hotel. It stands on the headland of St George’s Bay, in St Julian’s. The grounds cover 37,000 m² of terraces facing the sea. It has 248 rooms, including 24 executive rooms and 38 suites. Almost all have a balcony, and most look out over the bay.

Dining is one of its strengths. Eight restaurants share the site. Fra Martino serves the breakfast buffet. Don Royale offers Italian cuisine and Sole by Tarragon local fish. There is also Caviar & Bull, the American grill Henry J. Bean’s and Le Bistro. White Olive opens at the lido in summer. The Broadside terrace is closed until summer 2027. Three bars round things off: Le Café in the lobby, the Pearl Lounge and the Oasis Pool Bar in season.

For relaxation, the hotel offers three outdoor pools. One is for adults only, another sits at the lido, right at the water’s edge. There are also children’s pools and a heated indoor pool. The latter is in the Apollo spa, with a sauna and jacuzzi. The lido gives direct access to the sea via ladders. A diving centre and water sports are available on site.

The Corinthia is happy to welcome families. However, there is no kids’ club, though paid babysitting is available on request. One pool is for adults only. Under-16s can only use the spa and indoor pool from 9 am to 5 pm.

Recent reviews praise the quality of the welcome above all. The staff are mentioned in the vast majority of detailed comments. Reception, the breakfast team, housekeeping and the executive lounge receive the same praise. Guests also love the setting, a vast terraced complex on the headland of St George’s Bay. The tiered pools face the sea and the lido gives direct access to the water. Sunbeds remain easy to find, even at the height of summer.

The location is seen as convenient. The lively centre of St Julian’s is about a ten-minute walk away. The bus to Valletta stops outside the entrance, and the hotel stays quiet at night. The breakfast buffet scores well for choice. Several guests, however, find it repetitive over a long stay. The many restaurants on site make it easy to vary dinners without leaving the complex.

The downside comes up again and again: the hotel is showing its age. Carpets, bathrooms, sockets and furniture are often judged below five-star standard. A gradual room refurbishment is under way, and the renovated rooms are well liked. Since 2024, a large construction site next door has caused daytime noise and dust. It also casts shade over the pools in the late afternoon. Finally, the spa and its indoor pool feel small for a hotel of this size.

The Corinthia is best suited to couples and families looking for a full-service seaside resort. The attentive service and proximity to St Julian’s work in its favour. It is best to book a renovated sea-facing room, away from the building works. Travellers expecting flawless, contemporary luxury, on the other hand, may well be disappointed.

The Corinthia St George’s Bay occupies the headland of St George’s Bay, in St Julian’s. It lies on Malta’s north-east coast. St Julian’s lively centre and the sandy beach at St George’s Bay are both about ten minutes’ walk away. The Dragonara Casino is close by. The bus to Valletta stops outside the hotel entrance. The international airport is 10 km away, around 30 minutes by car. Transfers are paid and on request, as the free shuttle is currently suspended.

Good to know: a major construction project has been under way next to the hotel since 2024. For a quiet stay, ask for a sea-facing room away from the works.
