A programme built for a first trip abroad

European School of English is one of Malta’s most prestigious language institutions. Established in 1996, this independent school has built a solid reputation for excellence with a varied international audience. It has 60 classrooms in St Julian’s, where the young adults programme takes place.

Holding an official ELT Council licence, ESE guarantees teaching that meets the standards set by the Maltese authorities. It also holds five leading international accreditations (ELT Council, IALC, Eaquals, Alto and Feltom), a testament to the quality of its teaching and pastoral care.

The English courses

20 General English lessons per week, in the morning, in international groups from level A1 to level C2. Lessons last 45 minutes and classes are capped at 12 students.

Placement test on arrival, end-of-stay certificate stating the CEFR level reached. Afternoons are kept free for the activities. The transfer from the airport is included in the price.

The activity programme

The activity programme is included in the price and led by a group leader: that’s what sets this stay apart from an adult package, where outings are paid and optional.

On the programme: Valletta and Mdina, a day trip to Gozo, the beach, beach volleyball and paddleboarding. Lessons take up the morning; the rest of the day is organised for you. Group nights out in Paceville, ten minutes away, are supervised — which changes everything when it’s your first trip abroad on your own.

From 17 to 22. Younger students are better suited to the teenagers stay at Salina Bay; older students to the adult stays in St Julian’s or Sliema.

No, but they are included in the price and are the main point of the package. Most participants join in.

When does the programme run?

The programme runs from 30 March to 30 October. The price varies by season: July and August are the most expensive, spring and autumn the most affordable.

What does a typical day look like?

English lessons in the morning, a supervised activity in the afternoon (sport, beach, sightseeing), and an organised night out several times a week with the other participants. The rest of the time is yours: this is a stay for young adults, not a camp.

What is the eco tax in Malta?

Since 1 July 2026 it stands at 1.50 € per night per person aged 18 or over, capped at 22.50 € per stay: beyond the 15th night it is no longer charged. It is collected by your accommodation and appears on its own line in the price breakdown of our calculator.
