About ESE Malta
ESE (European School of English) is an English language school located in St Julian’s, on Paceville Avenue, at the heart of Malta’s liveliest area. The school was founded in 1996 and is part of the international Claret Group. It welcomes both adults and younger learners all year round and offers a wide range of courses: General English, academic courses, business and career English, exam preparation (Cambridge), teen clubs and a junior camp, as well as Erasmus+ courses. The main campus is in St Julian’s, while the teen and junior programmes run at the Salini Resort (4-star), with a pool and dedicated activities.
The campus is modern and has 60 classrooms, bright and fitted with interactive whiteboards, spread over three floors, with two terraces, a computer lab, a library and a cafeteria. Adult courses run in small groups of 12 students maximum, junior courses up to 15, ensuring personalised attention. Several accommodation options are available: student residences, apartments and host families.
ESE Malta accreditations
ESE is an official English language teaching institution: it holds the ELT Council licence, issued by the Maltese Ministry of Education, which licenses and monitors every English school in the archipelago.
The school also holds various accreditations and labels. ESE notably combines EAQUALS accreditation (Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality Language Services), a mark of teaching quality, membership of IALC (International Association of Language Centres), an international network of selected independent language schools, and membership of FELTOM (Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations Malta), the association of Maltese English schools that promotes and monitors quality standards across the sector. It also takes part in the European Erasmus+ programme.

For clarity, we do not show every logo the school promotes here, only the labels that genuinely matter. To learn what each one is worth, see our guide to the accreditations and labels of English schools in Malta.
Reviews of ESE Malta
ESE is one of the best-rated English schools in Malta, driven above all by its international atmosphere (you easily make friends from around the world) and by a very rich activity programme. Its teen and junior programme at the Salini Resort is also one of the most popular and best-loved in Malta. The teachers and the progress made are also praised, as is the large modern Paceville campus. The main reservations concern classrooms that can be crowded in peak season and a proportion of students of the same nationality that can run high depending on the period. The school offers accommodation of varying standards, uneven in price and quality. Meals on junior language stays are also often considered average by students.
