Book this stayEC Malta is one of the island’s largest and best-known English schools. It belongs to the international group of the same name, whose head office is also in Malta and which operates in around ten countries. Founded in 1991, the Maltese school has more than 30 years of experience teaching English.
The school sits in the heart of St Julian’s, the most dynamic spot in Malta, close to the Mercury Tower and the famous Paceville district. It has 44 classrooms dedicated to English teaching, allowing it to welcome up to 498 students at a time and to run every level from beginner (A1) to very advanced (C1). The journey from the airport takes about thirty minutes.
The school holds an ELT Council licence, making it an official institution recognised by the Maltese government. It is also an active member of FELTOM, Malta’s national association of English schools.
General English, Intensive English, Business English and exam preparation, as in most of Malta’s language schools. Levels run from A1 to C2, with a placement test on arrival.

Shared apartments are located in several neighborhoods highly popular with students, mainly in Sliema, St Julian’s, and Swieqi. Each accommodation typically houses up to 8 residents and features single or twin rooms. All rooms are furnished and equipped with storage space, a desk, and a fan in summer. Air conditioning is available in the rooms, usable at an extra cost based on consumption.
Each apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen (oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster), a common living room, and a dining area. Wi-Fi is freely accessible in all rooms. The setting offers a friendly environment allowing students to share living moments while enjoying an international atmosphere.
Cleaning is provided once a week, including the replacement of sheets and towels. A washing machine is available in each apartment (detergent not provided). Water, electricity, and heating are included in the stay, except for the use of air conditioning, which is charged according to individual consumption.
Apartments are mixed-gender, but shared rooms never mix genders, except by specific request from couples or friends traveling together. Students stay on a self-catering basis, which allows them to prepare their meals independently.

Host families are located in various neighborhoods near the school, including St Julian’s, Sliema, Swieqi, San Gwann, Gzira, Msida, and Pembroke. They are easily accessible on foot or by bus, allowing students to reach the school with ease. Each family hosts a limited number of students to ensure a quiet environment conducive to language immersion.
Staying with a host family offers a unique opportunity to discover the Maltese way of life and practice English daily. Students can book a single or twin room, with the possibility of sharing the room with a friend or being placed with a student of another nationality (subject to availability). Each room is equipped with storage space, a desk or dedicated study area, as well as all the essential furniture for a comfortable stay.
Bed linen and towels are provided by the family and changed once a week. Weekly laundry is also included. Students have access to common areas (living room, dining room), but use of the kitchen is not permitted. The bathroom is shared with the family, unless a private bathroom is booked. Free Wi-Fi is available in most homes.
Host family stays include breakfast and dinner (half-board). Some families also offer Bed & Breakfast. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated for an additional fee. Families follow strict quality standards to ensure a safe, welcoming environment that meets students' needs.
EC runs a weekly programme of outings: Marsaxlokk and its fish market, Valletta, Mdina. Activities are optional and booked on site, separately from the price of the stay.
The school has a common area with a terrace and table football, a space designed for students to get to know each other outside class.







A placement test is taken on arrival (or online before departure) and you are assigned to the matching group, from beginner A1 to very advanced C1. Your end-of-course certificate states the level you have reached.

The eco tax (“eco contribution”) is a tourist tax levied by the Maltese state and collected by every licensed accommodation provider in Malta and Gozo. Since 1 July 2026 it stands at 1.50 € per night per person aged 18 or over, capped at 22.50 € per stay: beyond the 15th night it is no longer charged. It is collected by your accommodation and appears on its own line in the price breakdown of our calculator.
