Description of Maltalingua School

Maltalingua is a small English-language school located in St Julian’s, about a hundred metres from the famous Balluta Bay and the seafront promenade between Saint Julian’s and Sliema. Founded in 2011, the school is relatively new compared with other long-standing institutions on the island, but it already enjoys an established reputation thanks to the quality of its teaching and its warm atmosphere.

The Maltalingua school has 12 classrooms, allowing it to host up to 144 students at the same time, which makes it a small-sized school. It can welcome language-stay participants and teach English to students of all ages and levels. The main school in Saint Julian’s is dedicated to adults, while courses for young learners, available from 8 years old, are organised in St Paul’s Bay.

Maltalingua Certifications

Maltalingua holds the ELT licence, making it an officially recognised school by the Maltese government.

It is also accredited by EAQUALS, a mark of quality and reliability, and it can host students and teachers under the Erasmus+ programme.

In addition to its certifications, Maltalingua is regularly nominated for the ST Star Awards, which reward the most renowned language schools in Europe. This, however, should be put into perspective, as not all Maltese schools systematically take part in this competition, often for strategic reasons or because they have less visibility in the B2B network. Major schools such as ESE Malta, IELS and EF Malta, for example, have never participated.

Maltalingua Reviews

Maltalingua is a good English school in Malta which, despite its small size, enjoys a strong reputation, partly thanks to the friendly, family-like atmosphere of the school. It is one of the popular establishments in Malta for language stays. The school is very well located, but its main building and classrooms are a little less modern than those of other schools on the island.

The teaching staff is of high quality, with carefully selected teachers. The main limitation of the school is its size: with only 12 classrooms, not all advertised courses can always be offered, and the student mix in classes is not always homogeneous.

Maltalingua has its own portfolio of apartments located close to the school. The apartments are modern and comfortable, situated in the Balluta area, one of the most sought-after zones in Malta. Note that several apartments are located at the top of Pjazza de Balluta, which can make grocery shopping challenging.

Maltalingua’s pricing is competitive, within the mid-range of Maltese school rates. The school regularly offers promotions, making stays affordable for as many students as possible. It is a school we mainly recommend for adults over 25 who want a friendly, family-like environment.
